Hemlane is required to collect sales tax in certain states based on applicable state and local tax laws. Sales tax requirements vary by location and may include state, county, or other local jurisdiction taxes. This article explains when sales tax applies and what charges are affected.
Sales tax is applied based on your credentials address, and the tax regulations in your state or local jurisdiction. Some states also require county or city-level taxes, which may affect the total tax amount charged.
Sales tax is only applied to monthly subscription fees. If your location requires sales tax, it will be automatically added to your Hemlane subscription invoice.
The following charges may have sales tax applied, depending on your location
- Monthly Hemlane subscription fees
Sales tax is not applied to one-time or pass-through charges, including:
- Premium advertising fees
- Repair and maintenance work orders (unless charged by vendor, for which then tax is collected by the Vendor and not Hemlane)
- Any other one-time services or charges
These charges are billed separately and are not subject to sales tax through Hemlane.
How sales tax appears on your invoice
If sales tax applies, it will be clearly listed as a separate line item on your invoice. The tax rate is determined by your billing address and applicable state and local tax laws.
What you should do
To ensure sales tax is calculated correctly, please confirm that your billing address is accurate and up to date. You can review or update your billing address by logging into your Hemlane account, clicking your name in the top right corner, selecting Banks & Cards, and navigate to your billing credentials by clicking where it says "To update your account information, click here."
