Safe and secure transactions are one of Hemlane’s top priorities. We want every user to feel confident and protected when using our platform.
Hemlane uses bank-level encryption security to protect all payments and sensitive data on our platform. All personal, banking, and screening information is stored as encrypted tokens, converting sensitive data into something that cannot be read or misused. Our payment systems are continuously updated to meet the latest security standards in the banking industry.
Our payment processor has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, which is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.
What Are Tokens?
Whenever you enter sensitive information into Hemlane, our system automatically converts it into an encrypted token. This means that no one on the Hemlane team, or anyone outside of the specific system we are communicating with, can see your sensitive information.
Where Are Encrypted Tokens Used in Hemlane?
- SSN (Social Security Number): Your SSN is stored as a token and transmitted as an encrypted information packet to and from the relevant partners who require it.
- Banking: Users connect to their bank directly through Hemlane to verify their account, either through secure online login or by manually entering banking details. Hemlane never receives your online banking login credentials. If you verify manually, your bank account information is immediately converted into an encrypted token and sent to our payment processor.
- Payments: All sensitive information during the payment process is protected. Our system combines data encryption with tokenization to keep your data secure at every stage of the transaction.
Why Does Hemlane Ask for Personally Identifiable Information (PII)?
Verifying your identity is a standard security measure to confirm that you are the person behind the account. Payment platforms that skip this step are exposed to a higher risk of fraud, where someone could steal your banking information and begin transacting from your account without your knowledge.
Does Hemlane Accept All Bank Accounts, Including Prepaid Accounts?
Hemlane may decline certain banks or cards based on information gathered during the bank setup verification process or from our security network. These measures are in place to maintain a safe and trusted environment for sending and receiving funds.
Why Does Hemlane Ask Me to Verify My Phone Number?
Hemlane asks each user to verify their phone number during account setup. This extra layer of security helps confirm your identity and keep your account protected. Our team may also use this number if we ever need to reach you regarding your account.
