Hemlane follows the rules set in your lease agreement. Most leases say that if rent is late, a late fee is charged, and that the late fee becomes part of the total amount you owe.
Due to this, the late fee needs to be paid first before you can make a rent payment on Hemlane.
As an example, If your rent is due on the 1st and the lease says a $75 late fee is charged on the 5th if rent isn’t paid, then:
- The $75 late fee is added to your account on the 5th
- You’ll need to pay that $75 before you can submit the rent payment
Your property manager sets the late-fee rules based on your lease (whether it’s a one-time fee, a daily fee, or a combination). Hemlane simply follows those rules so your payments line up with your lease terms.
If you have questions about your late fees or lease details, you can message your property manager in Hemlane. Your property manager is the best person to reach out to.
