Hemlane has partnered with Piñata to offer tenants benefits such as renters insurance, rewards for paying rent on time, and credit building through on-time rent reporting to all three major credit bureaus.
Please note that Tenant Perks must first be activated by your property manager. If you do not see the option to enroll, your property manager may not have enabled it yet. You can send them a message requesting that they activate Tenant Perks for your property.
How It Works for Tenants
- Opt-In: Once activated by your property manager, you can opt into Tenant Perks through your Hemlane account.
- Create a Piñata Account: Sign up with Piñata and upload proof of insurance or choose Piñata's master policy.
- Earn Rewards: Start earning rewards and incentives every time you pay rent on time.
How to Activate Tenant Perks
Step 1: Log into Hemlane and navigate to your Dashboard.
Step 2: Within your Dashboard, you will see the option to "Explore" Tenant Perks benefits. If you do not see this option, your property manager may not have enabled Tenant Perks for your property yet.
Step 3: Review Piñata's offerings and click "Sign Up for Tenant Perks."
Step 4: You will have two Tenant Perks packages to choose from. Select your preferred package.
Step 5: Choose a payment method. You can select an account already on file in Hemlane or add a new payment method.
Step 6: Confirm your date of birth and you are all set. You will receive an email from Piñata to activate your account within 24 hours of your subscription start date.
When Will I Be Charged for Tenant Perks?
Your first payment is prorated based on your lease start date or the date you enroll in Tenant Perks. You will be charged 24 hours prior to the start date of your Tenant Perks. Please note that pricing may vary based on location or associated property manager. After that, you are charged on the 1st of every month until canceled.
When Will Tenant Perks Cancel?
Tenant Perks will automatically cancel once you move out of the property and there is no active lease. You can also choose to manually cancel at any time through your Hemlane account. Please note that Tenant Perks remain active through the last day of each month.
What Is Included in the Master Insurance Policy?
- $100,000 in property damage and legal liability coverage (with a $10,000 sub-limit)
- $10,000 in personal contents coverage (with a $500 deductible)
