Hemlane is free for tenants. For owners and managers, here is everything you need to know about how the subscription works after your free trial.
How Hemlane Subscriptions Work
The user who added the property is responsible for the Hemlane subscription and is referred to as the bill-to user. If you are unsure who is being charged for the subscription across multiple rentals and users, you can confirm by looking at the properties listed under each user’s name within the Your Team tab. The subscribing user will have the words “bill-to” listed under their permissions for each property.
Please note that only the bill-to user can add units to a property, as this directly affects billing.
Hemlane offers flexibility in your subscription, including three package levels and two payment options. You can find the latest pricing and offerings at https://www.hemlane.com/pricing/
How to View Your Hemlane Subscription
Navigate to your name in the upper right-hand corner and click into Subscriptions. Here you will find your current subscription cost breakdown and the option to view past invoices under the Invoices tab at the top.

How to Change Your Subscription From Monthly to Annual Billing
Navigate to your name in the upper right-hand corner and click into Subscriptions from the dropdown menu. Click the Update button toward the middle of your screen, then choose to upgrade to an annual billing cycle from the dropdown menu on the pop-up form.
Payment Options
All plans are prorated to the day. At the end of every day, Hemlane calculates any new or archived rental units and adjusts the credit on your account accordingly. For example, if you pay your monthly invoice on the 1st and add a new unit on the 15th, you will only be charged for half a month for that unit.
Monthly Subscription
- Any added unit is charged immediately, prorated for the remainder of the billing cycle.
- Any archived unit creates a credit on your Hemlane account, not your bank account, for your next monthly invoice.
- If you add another unit and have existing credit, it will be applied toward the new charge.
Annual Subscription
- Any added unit is charged immediately, prorated for the remainder of the billing cycle.
- Any archived unit creates a credit on your Hemlane account, not your bank account, for your next annual invoice.
- If you add another unit and have existing credit, it will be applied toward the new charge.
- Refunds are not provided on annual plans if you reduce the number of units in your portfolio.
How to Change Your Subscription Payment Method
Navigate to your name in the upper right-hand corner and click into Subscriptions from the dropdown menu. Click the Update button toward the middle of your screen, then select your preferred payment account from the dropdown menu at the bottom of the pop-up form.
Subscription Cancellation Policy
As per our legal terms, section 2.6, the subscription period you have paid for will remain active through the final day of that period, whether monthly or annual.
If you cancel during a billing cycle, you can continue using Hemlane until the subscription period ends, or you can archive all properties within your account. If all properties are archived, the remaining paid subscription amount will credit back to your Hemlane account for future use.
