Bank account transactions are free within Hemlane and are the easiest and most reliable way to pay rent and other bills online. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to connect your bank account as a tenant.
Please note that savings accounts are not supported within Hemlane. You will need to connect a checking account.
To Add a New Bank Account
Step 1: Click Banks and Cards on the left-side main menu.
Step 2: Click + Account.
Step 3: Select the account type by choosing to add a bank account or a credit or debit card.
Step 4: Choose your preferred verification method.
There are two ways to verify your bank account:
- Secure Online Verification — Your bank is verified instantly through your online banking login via Plaid. This is the fastest option and is recommended when available.
- Manual Verification — You will verify your account using two micro-deposits that Hemlane sends to your bank within 1 to 2 business days of entering your account information. For more details, see How do I verify my bank account (micro deposits)?
To Verify Online (Instant Verification)
Our online verification option uses Plaid to instantly connect and verify your bank account through your online banking credentials.
Step 1: Select the Secure Online Verification method and click Connect via Plaid.
Step 2: Select your bank from the list and enter your banking credentials.
Step 3: If you have a Plaid account, enter the phone number linked to it. If you do not have a Plaid account, click “Continue without phone number” below the Continue button.
Step 4: Once verification is complete, select the checking account you would like to connect to Hemlane and confirm.
To Verify Manually (1 to 2 Business Day Verification)
If you choose manual verification, Hemlane will send two small deposits of less than $1.00 each to your bank account. These are called micro-deposits and are used to confirm that you are the owner of the account.
Step 1: Select the Manual Verification method, fill in your banking details, and click Next.
Step 2: Wait 1 to 2 business days for the two micro-deposits to arrive in your account. Once they have arrived, log back into Hemlane to complete the verification process. For full instructions, see "How do I verify my bank account (micro deposits)?".
