For a full walkthrough, check out our video guide. Hemlane allows owners to request payments using an online or offline payment request. These requests can be configured as a one-time request such as a security deposit, or a recurring request such as monthly rent.
Before requesting a payment you will want to make sure your bank account is connected. Please see the article below for more details.
Getting Started: How do I add a new bank account as an owner?
How to Request Rent and Other Payments
Step 1: Select Financials from the left side main menu.
Step 2: Click Request Money to request a payment to be made through Hemlane using an attached bank account and/or credit card.
OR
Click "Track Offline Payments" to record a payment made outside of Hemlane, such as via check or money order.
Step 3: Follow the steps to fill out the payment details. The form includes:
- Property address and unit if applicable
- Payor's details — who will send the payment and which bank account it will be sent from
- Payee's details — who will receive the payment and which bank account it will deposit into
- Payment details — amount, category, and due date
- Payment options — allowing partial payments, credit and debit card payments, and/or automatically including late fees
Please note that a payment request will not generate on the end date itself.
Be sure to select either the one-time or recurring transaction option before proceeding.
When Do Individual Transactions Generate From a Recurring Payment Request?
Individual monthly or weekly recurring request transactions will generate the next transaction once the total amount has been paid on the current transaction. The next transaction will not generate until the full balance on the current transaction has been paid.
If no prior payment is made on a current transaction, the next month or weekly transaction will trigger 21 days before its due date.
