Hemlane allows you to add applicants, add co-signers (or guarantors), and combine applicants.
Adding a New Applicant
First, check whether the person is already listed under Prospective Tenants. If they are still in the Inquiries column, click Invite to Apply for them. If they are not listed as a prospect, follow these steps:
Step 1: Select the Prospective Tenants tab on the left-hand panel.
Step 2: Click Add Applicant under the Applicants section.
Step 3: Fill out the user’s information in the popup window.
Adding a Co-Applicant or Co-Signer to an Existing Applicant
Hemlane allows you to quickly add co-signers or co-applicants to an existing application. After the first tenant applies, you can add a second applicant (an additional resident) or a co-signer (someone financially responsible) using the steps below.
Please note that you can only add another applicant or co-signer to someone who has been invited to apply. If the tenant is listed as an inquiry, meaning they came through our marketing channel but have not started the application process, you will first need to invite that person to apply. Then you can invite the second applicant or co-signer.
Step 1: Select the Prospective Tenants tab on the left-hand panel.
Step 2: Click More Actions and choose Invite to Apply.
Step 3: Click Add Applicant within the popup menu.
Step 4: Fill out the co-applicant’s name, email, and phone number, then click Next.
Combining Existing Applicants and Co-Signers
Hemlane makes it easy to combine applications. After the first tenant applies, you can combine a second applicant or a co-signer using the steps below.
Step 1: Select the Prospective Tenants tab on the left-hand panel.
Step 2: Click More Actions and choose Combine With Another Applicant.
Step 3: Select which applicant you wish to move, click Next, and confirm where they will go.
What Does a Co-Signer Need to Complete Within the Application?
An applicant should fill out all sections of the application. A co-signer only needs to complete the following:
- Employment
- Bank information (assets)
- Pay stubs (uploaded)
- Bank statements (uploaded)
We also recommend that you request screening on both applicants and co-signers.
