Codebox offers high-quality lockboxes, but occasional troubleshooting may be needed. Below are some general tips to help resolve common issues, along with Codebox's customer support information.
| Reminder: Make sure the key(s) stored in the lockbox unlock all necessary entry points. These include locks on the door handle, deadbolt locks, additional locking doors such as screen doors or secondary doors etc.) |
What If My Lockbox Is Completely Malfunctioning?
Codebox offers a one-year warranty on all lockboxes. If your lockbox malfunctions within that period, keep the defective unit. Codebox will ship you a replacement and provide a return shipping label at no cost so their team can review it for defects.
Please note that additional costs such as locksmith fees are the owner's responsibility and are not covered under the warranty. We recommend keeping a backup set of keys in a non-digital lockbox onsite as a precaution.
Can I get reimbursement for a locksmith or additional costs associated with a malfunctioning lockbox?
Codebox typically only provides a replacement lockbox within the one-year warranty period. Other costs, such as locksmith fees, are the owner’s responsibility. This is why we recommend maintaining a backup set of keys in a non-digital lockbox onsite.

What is the Admin Code for?
The Admin/Agent Code is your master code for managing all settings and configurations on your Codebox lockbox. Here is what you can use it for:
- Changing Lockbox Settings: The primary use of the admin code is modifying lockbox settings such as the date and time, showing access window, and other general configurations.
- Changing Other Codes: Use the admin code to update the Vendor/Door Code, which opens the lockbox door, and the Shackle Code, which releases the shackle.
- Reviewing History: The admin code gives you access to the lockbox's usage history, including the date and time codes were entered to open the lockbox.
Keep your admin code private. Sharing it could allow unauthorized changes to your lockbox settings and compromise its security.
How to Enter the Date and Time Initially
Your admin code gives you access to settings including date, time, shackle code, and vendor code. Here is a summary of how date and time are used in a Codebox:
- Initial Setup: Enter your 6-digit admin code to access the settings menu where you can set the date and time.
- Setting the Date: Once in the setup menu, set the date in MM/DD/YY format and press Enter to proceed.
- Setting the Time: Set the time in HH/MM format, use the 3 key to toggle between AM and PM, then press Enter to confirm.
- Daylight Savings Time: If applicable, confirm your DST setting. Use 1 for on and 0 for off. This is especially relevant in areas that do not observe DST, such as Arizona.
- Access Times: Date and time settings are essential for ensuring the lockbox only grants access during the designated showing window.
- History Logs: The Codebox stores a record of access codes used along with the date and time of each entry. This can be reviewed through the settings menu.
Keeping the date and time accurate ensures the lockbox functions correctly, grants access at the right times, and maintains a reliable usage history.
